WILD OATS PLAN AFRICAN TOUR.
The fantastic Wildoats single 'Paper Tigers' which features the voices of the children of St George's School for children with complex learning disabilities, has found its way to Africa! Origially six singles were sent by one of the teachers of the school to a friend who works with kids with special needs there. So popular was the single that within a few days an order for fifty more came back. Organisers in Africa are keen to distribute the singles to other areas such is the interest in the band and the 'Making Sense' song in particular.
Band front man Spike Oatley said. "We've been told there's a good chance that we can get out there in the summer and put together a small tour and maybe work with some of the kids out there as we have done with St George's here. It would be an unbelievable experience for us and we're working with various organisations to try to make it a reality".

Paper Tigers single launch & charity
gig night a huge success!

The Wild Oats headlining the charity gig at the Venue.
"The Wild Oats were awesome! Amazing. Top support acts. Loads of people and a really good feel. Spike Oatley should be knighted! Thanks for asking me to help out, I really enjoyed it. That was a great evening."
Said host for the night TV presenter Chris Packham.
SINGLE LAUNCH SUCCESS. by Nige
The ambitious 'Paper Tigers' single launch night at The Venue in Ryde on the Isle of Wight turned out to be totally amazing and incredibly what's more it went without a hitch. The marathon night of entertainment was hosted by TV's Chris Packham. A dedicated follower of the music scene himself, Chris raved about the night saying....
"The Wild Oats were awesome! Amazing. Top support acts. Loads of people and a really good feel. Spike Oatley should be knighted! Thanks for asking me to help out, I really enjoyed it. That was a great evening."
The doors opened at 7.30pm to queues of people waiting to get in and on arrival they were entertained by the superb Becky Rice & Chris Q. Across two stages the music continued with one class act after another. Puzzle Muteson and The Hoops followed by Paul Armfield and Hugo Frusslinky who all produced top quality sets. Magic man Aaron Isted wandered the crowd and baffled us with his crazy slight of hand antics and Ryde's own Ollie Ducie stepped up to the mic stand and made us all giggle like girls!
But it was our very own Wild Oats that stole the show with what was undoubtedly their best perfomance ever. The packed crowed went quite literally nuts as they powered their way through a supercharged set. Highlights for me were the opener 'A Wish Away' which had the audience swarming to the dance floor and 'The Making Sense Song' which got the crowd singing along.
Organiser Spike Oatley said.....
"What a night! For us it was the best night in our bands life. The charity single launch was a huge success... a massive thank you to everyone who made it possible, to many to mention but you know who you are!
Not exactly sure how much we raised yet and obviously as the single sells more money is made for St. Georges School.
Thanks to the people who turned up in their droves to support the cause."
It really was a fantastic night, it got everyone talking and I certainly won't forget it in a hurry. It seems to me the Wild Oats have raised the benchmark when it comes to local gigs now, it's hard to imagine how they'll ever top it.........watch this space I guess.
So here's the list of people that that Spike was talking about....
